Amid an affordability crisis in the automotive industry, with the average new car selling for more than $50,000, at least one car will see its price drop for 2027.
The 2027 Subaru Impreza will start at $25,840 in most states, including a $1,245 delivery fee. The Impreza will cost $25,990 in Alaska, as Subaru charges $150 more to ship it to The Last Frontier.
That’s nearly $2,000 less than the 2026 edition.
To get to that lower price, Subaru is essentially bringing back the base trim that was discontinued for the 2026 model year. The base Impreza uses a dual 7-inch screen infotainment system with wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto instead of the larger 11.6-inch unit with wireless phone connectivity found on the higher RS model. The base model also rides on 17-inch wheels instead of the 18-inch alloys on the RS. It still gets Subaru’s full EyeSight suite of driver assistance features and dual-zone climate control.
The only other changes for the new model year, the company says, are few higher quality interior surfaces, “including updated stitching on the center console and revised door panel materials.”
The Impreza stands out in the compact car class thanks to its standard all-wheel drive (AWD) and spacious hatchback-only body style. Some more recently redesigned rivals feel more refined, but the Impreza remains one of the few ways to get AWD grip for under $30,000. Our editors especially like the RS trim, which can be optioned with features like a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat and 10-speaker Harman Kardon premium audio system.
The 2027 Subaru Impreza is set to go on sale late this year.
