Making its debut at the Tokyo Motor Show, the Subaru Impreza 5-door Concept offers a glimpse of what lies ahead for the hatch version of the automakers popular compact. Subaru says this "Dynamic & Solid" design theme will be featured many of its other upcoming vehicles. Hopefully that includes the aggressive take on body contours and lighting elements.

The bolder look introduced in the Impreza 5-door Concept reflects thinking that emerged from Fuji Heavy Industries’ "Prominence 2020" plan announced last year. The focus is raising public perception of Subaru as being a maker of sporty, fun-to-drive vehicles that emphasize innovation as well as safety. To the extent the show car does mirror the look of these initial sketches and if the successor carries on in the same vein, it appears the Impreza will become an even more influential player in its segment.
