Recall Alert: Honda Fit, HR-V

2022 Honda HR-VHonda has issued a recall alert for about 115,000 2018-2020 Fit hatchbacks and 2019-2022 HR-V crossovers because their rearview cameras may not always operate.

In documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Honda explains, “the power circuit in the display audio unit was improperly designed.”

When drivers start their vehicles with a key, cranking the starter can deplete the battery. This doesn’t affect models with a push-button start. Software governing battery state can temporarily shut off the backup camera in response. That shouldn’t happen since the backup camera is a critical safety feature.

Dealers can fix the problem with a software update. Recall repairs are always free, and software updates are typically among the quickest repairs.
