Ford has issued a recall for nearly 400,000 pickup trucks and SUVs equipped with tow packages. This includes:
- 2021-2022 Ford F-150
- 2022 Ford Maverick
- 2022 Ford Expedition
- 2022 Lincoln Navigator
- 2022 Ford F-Series Super Duty
Due to a software error, the trailer braking system in these vehicles might not trigger the brakes on a towed trailer with an electric or electric-over-hydraulic brake system. That could result in unexpectedly long stopping distances, increasing the risk of a crash.
Dealers will fix the problem with a simple software update — a quick repair. But these vehicles do not receive over-the-air software updates, so owners must bring them in for the patch.
