Audi has recalled about 46,000 cars because their fuel gauges may be inaccurate, potentially leading to drivers surprised by an empty tank.
The affected models include:
- 2019-2021 A6 Sedan
- 2019-2021 A7
- 2020-2021 A6 Allroad
- 2020-2021 S6 Sedan
- 2020-2021 S7
- 2021 RS6 Avant
- 2021 RS7
The problem is a fuel level sensor set too close to a ventilation pipe. It can cause both the car’s fuel gauge and its range estimator to be inaccurate. Owners might notice that the fuel level doesn’t change for a long time or that the trip computer reports an “implausible” range.
Dealers will replace the sensor to correct the issue. As in every recall, the repair is free.
