Ram has recalled 12,736 Ram 2500 heavy-duty (HD) pickups from model years 2023-2026 because the trucks can go faster than their tires can handle.
A report to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) states that the 2500 pickup “may have been built with a vehicle speed calibration that can exceed the maximum tire speed rating.”
This issue may cause tires to wear more quickly, possibly leading to loss of control and increasing the chances of an accident.
The company is not aware of any warranty claims, accidents, or injuries related to this recall.
Dealers plan on remedying the issue by reprogramming the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
This service is free of charge, as recall repairs always are.
