Porsche is bringing back the 6-speed manual transmission to the 2027 911 Carrera S in North America. The new 911 Carrera S with MT Package will also include elevated standard equipment, offering a sportier option for the Carrera model, and will be available in two body styles: coupe and Cabriolet.
No Substitute
Manual transmissions are a dying breed in the U.S., with only 24 vehicles offering them. Porsche says it is proud to offer this option. “Managing a clutch and shift lever isn’t for everyone, but for the drivers who want it there really is no substitute,” says Porsche Cars North America President Timo Resch. Porsche now offers seven variants of the 2027 911 with a manual transmission in North America.
The 911 Carrera S boasts a 473-horsepower twin-turbo flat-6 engine and comes exclusively with rear-wheel drive. The standard transmission remains an 8-speed automatic.
Minimizing Additional Weight
This model will have rear-axle steering, PASM Sport suspension, a walnut shift handle, the Sport Chrono Package, and unique exhaust tuning. Center-lock wheels are available for the first time on this model and save more than 17 pounds compared to the standard 911 Carrera S wheels, according to Porsche. The rear of the car features a signature red “S,” which Porsche says is “a detail born from a modification liked by North American enthusiasts.”
If you want your 911 Carrera S to be even lighter, ceramic composite brakes and carbon-fiber seats are available options.
Plenty of Ways to Personalize
As is the case with Porsche sports cars, there are plenty of ways to personalize this one. Over 70 leather interior configurations and 17 exterior paint colors allow you to choose your favorite color combinations. Other options include HD-Matrix Design headlights, puddle lights featuring the 6-speed manual shift pattern, plaid Sport-Tex seat centers with stripes, and matching seat belts.
2027 911 Carrera S Manual Transmission Price
Orders for the 2027 911 Carrera S with MT Package can be placed starting today. Pricing starts at $169,450 for the coupe and $183,350 for the Cabriolet, including the mandatory $2,350 destination fee. Deliveries should begin at the end of 2026.
