Jeep is recalling one of its most popular models for a problem with the rear coil springs. The recall includes more than 300,000 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Grand Cherokee L SUVs from the 2022 and 2023 model years due to an issue that could cause the rear springs to detach and come out of position. For some of the SUVs, this will be the second recall of the rear coil springs.
Affected vehicles include 215,433 Jeep Grand Cherokee L, 97,477 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and 15,471 Grand Cherokee 4xe SUVs. The problem isn’t related to a single failing part, with Jeep saying that the recalled models “may have been manufactured or repaired with an out-of-position rear coil spring assembly.”
As of early August 2026, the automaker had received 406 warranty claims and 29 customer assistance records, but no accidents or injuries have been reported, according to a filing with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). This is the second recall related to the rear coil springs, and this action was initiated after several customer complaints about previously repaired vehicles.
To fix the issue, dealers will replace both of the rear coil spring lower isolators. As with all recall repairs, the service is free, and this one should not be ignored.
