Hyundai Reveals Bolder, Boxier 2027 Tucson

2027 Hyundai Tucson

The Tucson is one of Hyundai’s most important vehicles, but it has been almost six years since it last saw a significant generational update. That will change for 2027 with the introduction of the new fifth-generation SUV, which was revealed on Hyundai’s South Korean media site today.

The translated press release doesn’t disclose many details on the upcoming compact SUV, but we do get some interesting tidbits. Additionally, no powertrain details are available yet, but we expect gas, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid variants when the 2027 Tucson arrives on U.S. shores. It’s important to note that the specs listed here apply to the Korean-market Tucson, and some details may change before the North American release.

The 2027 Tucson is longer with an extended wheelbase, and Hyundai widened the track by 40mm (a little over 1.5 inches) to improve the ride quality and expand interior space. Second-row headroom is up by 29mm (approximately 1.14 inches), and the rear doors open wider for easier access.

A boxier, more dramatic exterior shape is one of the most noticeable updates. Hyundai fitted new H-shaped LED daytime running lights, and a new front accent bar uses indirect lighting to produce a soft glow that “emphasizes the bold structure and three-dimensional surfaces of the front, creating a futuristic impression.”

The adventurous XRT trim carries on into 2027, offering an exclusive rear bumper, a skid plate, unique badging, and black exterior accents. It also comes with protective second-row floor mats and touch-sensitive LED tailgate lights, though there’s no word on how that feature will work.

Inside, the updated dash features “floating” elements, with the upper and lower sections separated by air vents. Hyundai didn’t disclose screen sizes, but the SUV offers a large central touchscreen with a slim digital gauge cluster behind a D-shaped steering wheel.

Stay tuned in the coming months for more information on this next-gen Hyundai Tucson.
