Hyundai Recalls Tucson, Santa Fe Over Power Loss

Hyundai has recalled 29 units of its Tucson and Santa Fe SUVs from model years 2025-2026 because loose bolts could cause engine damage and a loss of drive power.

The company tells federal safety regulators that the factory may not have torqued some bolts fixing connecting rods in their engines to the proper specification. This can let a rod come loose, causing a loss of power, engine damage, and oil leaks.

Drivers might hear an unusual knocking noise from the engine compartment as the rods loosen.

Dealers will fix the problem by replacing the entire engine. Tightening the bolts might not be enough of a solution if they’ve already caused some damage.
