Honda and its Acura luxury division have issued a recall for 121 cars spread across many models, because their driver’s seat frames may not be properly tightened.
Recalled models include some, but not all, examples of the:
- 2024 Acura Integra
- 2023-2024 Honda Accord
- 2023-2024 Honda Accord Hybrid
- 2023-2024 Honda Civic
- 2023-2024 Honda Civic Hatchback
- 2024 Honda HR-V
- 2023-2024 Honda Pilot
Honda tells the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that a robot that attaches cushions to the seats had a programming error and loosened some bolts it was meant to tighten.
“If a bolt falls off, the driver’s seat may become unsecured and rock or wobble during use, increasing the risk or severity of an injury in the event of a crash,” the company explains.
Honda says it has received five warranty claims but no reports of injuries related to the problem.
Dealers will correct it by tightening all bolts to the specified torque rating.
By law, dealers never charge for recall repairs.
Carmakers try to notify the owners of recalled vehicles, but those efforts aren’t always 100% effective. To check if your car is part of a recall, try our easy VIN check tool in our recall center.
