General Motors is rolling out next-generation Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 trucks for the 2027 model year. The full-size pickups arrive with new engines, updated trim levels, and fresh tech, and we recently received pricing details.

New V8 engines headline the updates for 2027, but it’s worth noting that some body styles might not be available at launch. GMC said that “Regular Cab, Double Cab, and additional configuration availability will be announced as production expands.” That means we’ll likely see lower-priced GMC Sierra models as additional variants roll out.
After a problematic run with the current 6.2-liter V8, GM is debuting next-generation 5.7- and 6.6-liter engines. The smaller V8 makes 402 hp and 428 lb-ft of torque, while the 6.6-liter unit produces 481 hp and 501 lb-ft of torque. For reference, the current 5.3-liter V8 makes 355 hp, and the 6.2-liter has 420 hp.
Both trucks keep their base engine from the previous year, the turbocharged 2.7-liter 4-cylinder TurboMax powerplant. It offers 350 hp and 455 lb-ft of torque. The turbocharged 3.0-liter Duramax diesel engine remains an option as well, offering the best torque numbers of the bunch, at 495 lb-ft. All engines pair with a 10-speed automatic transmission and rear- or 4-wheel drive.
The Silverado 1500 ZR2 and Sierra 1500 AT4X bring beefier styling and more off-road capability to the model lines. The ZR2 has a 2-inch lift and 35-inch mud-terrain tires, while the AT4X comes standard with a diesel engine and offers a Baja drive mode. Both pickups ride on Multimatic dampers and come with electronically-locking front and rear differentials.
Exterior changes include a more upright shape, with a vertical grille and revised LED lighting elements. Both models get new wheel options and updated color choices.
Standard tech features include a 12.2-inch digital gauge cluster and a 16.3-inch touchscreen. Higher trims add a head-up display, a rearview mirror camera system, wireless phone charging, and a configurable center console.
GM’s hands-free Super Cruise driver-assistance technology is available for both trucks, and it offers trailering features not available in Ford’s BlueCruise or other similar systems.
The 2027 Chevy Silverado 1500 and 2027 GMC Sierra 1500 are slated to go on sale later this year.
