Trends tend to come back around. The once-popular two-tone paint look is experiencing a resurgence, and Ford is adding to the vehicles touting the color scheme. Ford Custom Garage is offering a two-tone paint package for the 2027 F-150. This paint package is a throwback to the F-150 of the 1970s and ’80s that featured an accent stripe wrapped around the truck.
What Goes Around Comes Around
Two-tone paint designs on cars have been around since the 1920s on luxury models, and took off in America in the 1950s. Adding an extra color to a car’s exterior was a relatively cheap way to grab attention and make a car look more expensive. The Mini Cooper and Volkswagen ID. Buzz are two examples of models deftly using this design for the modern era. While those cars have white roofs and bolder colors on the body, the F-150’s eye-catching accent stripe stretches from the floor line to the waistline of the truck.
Specifications
This design offering isn’t available for every 2027 F-150. The model must be an XLT or Lariat with SuperCrew body style. It also must be configured with a 5.5-foot bed and 145-inch wheelbase.
So far, the only stripe colors to choose from are Oxford White, Carbonized Gray, and Agate Black. Ford Custom Garage says that the striping is done with “laser-cut precision, exact factory paint matching, and a finish built to hold up mile after mile.” The automaker is only showing it in Ruby Red as the contrasting color, but it’s available in a total of 10 colors, officials told Kelley Blue Book.
An Iconic Look
Ford Custom Garage features limited-edition packages designed by Ford. Other models offering the customized look include the Mustang, Bronco, Bronco Sport, and Super Duty. If you’re not a fan of the accent stripe, Ford Custom Garage offers other F-150 packages as well.
Pricing for the Two-Tone Package comes in at $12,545, Ford told KBB, and the website notes that it also includes a supplemental 3-year/36,000-mile warranty. Ford Custom Garage says the two-tone paint appearance combines “retro heritage with advanced factory precision” to bring back an “iconic look exactly as it was meant to be seen: sharp, seamless, and unmistakably Ford.”
