Ford Recalls Transit Trail Vans Over Structural Issue

The Ford Transit Trail van on dirt.

Ford has recalled 1,403 Transit vans from model years 2023 and 2024 due to structural issues that may cause the engine to slip out of position. Only vehicles equipped with the Transit Trail packages are affected.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recall report, fasteners used to secure the engine may not have included washers, which can lead to joint failure over time. If this failure persists, the engine can slip out of its intended position.

If the engine slips out, it could cause a loss of power or damage to vehicle systems while driving, including the brake system. This can increase the risk of a crash.

There are several indicators that may suggest the engine is not securely in place. You might hear a clunking noise under your feet while driving over bumps, when starting the engine, or during acceleration or deceleration.

Dealers will fix this issue by replacing the defective part with a fastener that includes a washer. There will be no cost for this service. Recall repairs are always free of charge.

Ford has begun mailing letters to owners with affected vehicles. The company expects to mail all letters by Feb. 20, 2026.

Millions of cars are recalled, sometimes more than once. While automakers do their best to notify every vehicle owner affected by a recall, they don’t always reach everyone. To check whether your vehicle might be subject to a recall, use the easy tool at our recall center. All you need is your vehicle identification number (VIN), license plate, or year, make, and model of your car to get started.
