Ford has issued a recall for 11,405 Ranger pickups from the 2026 model year due to a defect that may cause their infotainment screens to go blank.
In a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) report, Ford states that an electrical fault can cause the 10.1-inch infotainment display to lose power, resulting in a blank screen. If the screen goes blank, the rearview camera image will not display when the truck is shifted into reverse.
The condition may prevent the trucks from meeting certain requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 111, which governs rear visibility systems, according to the NHTSA recall filing.
A rearview camera that fails to display an image can reduce a driver’s view behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash. Ford is currently aware of 15 warranty claims that may be related to this recall, but is not aware of any accidents or injuries connected to this issue.
Ford has not yet reached a solution for this problem, but says it is actively working to provide parts for a remedy. When this process is ready, drivers will be notified by mail with further instructions on how to visit a dealership for repairs. These repairs will be completed free of charge.
Until then, anyone affected by this recall should exercise extra caution when viewing their rear surroundings before reversing.
