Ford recalled 148,663 recent model year Mustangs due to a wiring harness problem that may lead to a loss of power or other problems.
Affected 2024-2026 Mustangs may experience a fatigue fracture of the wiring harness ground eyelet terminals in the engine compartment. Depending on which ground eyelet fractures, a number of issues could result, including in a loss of motive power and operation of the headlamps, air conditioning, windshield wiper pump, or engine cooling fan.
Adhesive from the wiring harness heat shrink material can get into the ground eyelet bolt clearance envelope, potentially causing these problems. An illuminated check engine light, chime, or instrument cluster warning messages may alert the driver to one of the problems. There are no reports of accidents or injuries related to this issue.
Owners can take their Mustang to a Ford dealership to have the engine compartment wiring harness ground terminals replaced with eyelet pigtails, free of charge.
The recall schedule on the report says, “Mailing of remedy owner notification letters is expected to be completed” in Q1 2027. Dealers have already been notified.
