Ford Recalls Explorer Over Loose Windshield

Ford has recalled eight 2026 Ford Explorer SUVs due to improperly applied windshields. “Affected vehicles are equipped with windshields that may have improperly applied urethane between the windshield glass and windshield frame,” according to the government’s Safety Recall Report.

Improper application means vehicles may not comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 212, and the windshield may not remain in place in a crash. The application error is due to an equipment failure at the assembly plant.

Increased wind noise and water leaks are indications that your windshield could be affected. Ford is not aware of any reports or accidents related to this issue.

A Ford dealer will install a new windshield at no cost to affected Explorer owners.

Millions of cars are recalled, sometimes more than once. While automakers do their best to notify every vehicle owner affected by a recall, they don’t always reach everyone.
