Ford Recalls Bronco Sport, Maverick Over Engine Block Heater

2026 Ford Bronco Sport seen parked.

Ford is recalling 55 vehicles due to a potential overheating issue with their engine block heater. The following vehicles are affected:

The company told the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that “affected vehicles may experience overheating of the engine block heater while the vehicle is parked, and the block heater is plugged in.”

Overheating of the engine block can cause an engine coolant leak, damage the electrical connector, and increase the risk of an underhood fire. Ford says the risk only exists when the block heater is plugged in.

The automaker is not aware of any warranty claims, accidents, or injuries related to this recall.

To remedy the issue, dealers will inspect and replace the block heater element with a different model and, if necessary, replace the electrical cord.

Owners of affected vehicles will be notified beginning June 1. Also, affected vehicles may display a check engine light.

Automakers do their best to notify every vehicle owner affected by a recall, but they may not reach everyone. Discover whether your vehicle has any outstanding recalls by checking the easy-to-use vehicle identification number (VIN) tool at our recall center.
