Ford tells federal safety officials that the vehicles’ fuel pumps can fail, interrupting fuel delivery to the engine. The company believes that as few as 10% of the recalled models may have the problem, but it needs to recall them all to find the faulty ones.
The company is still developing a remedy for the issue. When it comes, it will be free. By law, dealers never charge for recall repairs.
