Ford has recalled just six vehicles because they can leak oil, potentially causing a vehicle fire.
Recalled models include one or two units of each of the following:
- 2025 Ford Maverick
- 2026 Ford Explorer
- 2026 Ford Mustang
- 2026 Lincoln Corsair
The company tells federal safety regulators that factory workers accidentally installed six cylinder heads that had been rejected in a quality control test. They could allow oil to leak onto hot engine parts, where it could catch fire.
Customers might notice an oil pressure warning light and a burning smell as the problem develops.
Ford is not aware of any accidents, injuries, or fires related to the problem, which was uncovered during a factory inspection.
Dealers will replace the cylinder head assembly to fix the problem.
By law, dealers never charge for recall repairs.
Automakers recall many cars to fix safety defects, sometimes more than once. While automakers try to reach every owner to ask them to bring the vehicle in for repair, they rarely get them all. Millions of vehicles on American roads need free recall repairs. To find out if your car is one of them, check the easy VIN tool at our recall center.
