Dodge Hornet, Alfa Romeo Tonale Recalled Over Brake Pedal Collapse

Dodge and Alfa Romeo have recalled 5,975 Hornet and Tonale plug-in hybrid (PHEV) SUVs from model year 2024 because their brake pedals can collapse, leading to brake failure.

The company tells federal safety officials that the post that supports the brake pedal can collapse, which could leave the driver unable to activate the brakes.

The company knows of one accident in Europe with no injuries due to the problem.

Dealers will reinforce the post with a bolt and a nut to fix the problem.

By law, dealers never charge for recall repairs.

Automakers recall many cars to fix safety defects, sometimes more than once. While automakers try to reach every owner to ask them to bring the vehicle in for repair, they rarely get them all. Millions of vehicles on American roads need free recall repairs. To find out if your car is one of them, check the easy VIN tool at our recall center.
