Honda and Acura are recalling almost 60,000 Prologue and ZDX models due to an issue that can cause the rearview camera to malfunction or fail. The problem relates to improper adhesion of the camera assembly, which can cause it to split and allow moisture into the unit.
A total of 44,199 2024-2025 Honda Prologue and 15,688 2024 Acura ZDX electric SUVs are impacted by the action. Recall documentation states that ”adhesive separation is caused by improper pre-treatment (plasma irradiation) of the rearview camera case bonding surface by the supplier during the manufacturing process.”

While they wear Honda and Acura badges, the vast majority of the engineering and componentry in the Prologue and ZDX come from General Motors, which also manufactures both models. That partnership has required a joint investigation of the issue, but we don’t yet know if the recall will expand to impact related GM models, including the Chevrolet Blazer EV or Cadillac Lyriq.
As of earlier this month, Honda had received more than 2,400 warranty claims tied to the camera problem, but no injuries or deaths have been reported. A failing rearview camera isn’t the most serious safety issue, but it could put the vehicles in violation of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) and may make reverse maneuvers more challenging for drivers accustomed to a clear camera view.
As with all recalls, dealers will fix the problem at no charge to owners. They will replace the old camera unit with a revised system manufactured after June 2025. Honda said it would begin notifying dealers of the problem this month, followed by owners in July.
