A Chevrolet spokesperson confirmed pricing in an email to Kelley Blue Book. Stepping up to the new 8.3-liter Duramax diesel V8 costs $11,400, a $1,410 increase over the previous year’s 6.6-liter diesel option. That’s a stout upcharge, but the new engine does bring significantly improved specs over its predecessor, offering 555 horsepower and 1,230 lb-ft of torque.
If the diesel’s too pricey, the base 6.6-liter V8 gas engine gets a slight boost for 2027, too. It now makes 412 hp and 472 lb-ft, up from 401 hp and 464 lb-ft of torque. Towing with the gas engine reaches 19,000 pounds, while the diesel offers up to 38,000 pounds, though reaching those max capacities requires the proper towing equipment.
Other improvements for the new model year include the lineup’s first rack-and-pinion electric power steering system and electronic brake-boost technology. Additionally, Chevy rolled out updated tow/haul and off-road features, and the rugged ZR2 trim gains a new Terrain driving mode with one-pedal driving options.
