Chevy Silverado EV, GMC Sierra EV Recalled Over Cracking in Wheels

General Motors is recalling 952 electric trucks due to potential cracking in one or more steel wheels and/or the spare tire wheel. This recall affects the 2026 Chevrolet Silverado EV and 2026 GMC Sierra EV and pertains only to vehicles with steel road wheels and/or steel spare wheels.

According to the recall report, “One or more of the steel wheels and/or the spare tire wheel on these vehicles may have a manufacturing defect that can eventually result in cracking at the disc vent holes.” A cracked wheel can make steering difficult and lead to a crash. Vent holes in the wheel disc may not have been properly adjusted during manufacturing.

To remedy the issue, dealers will inspect the spare and all four road wheels on these vehicles and replace them if necessary.

Millions of cars are recalled, sometimes more than once. While automakers do their best to notify every vehicle owner affected by a recall, they don’t always reach everyone. To check whether your vehicle might be subject to a recall, use the easy tool at our recall center. All you need is your VIN, license plate, or year, make, and model of your car to get started.
