Acura is planning an aggressive catalog overhaul as we head into the end of the 2020s. Honda’s luxury division recently announced its upcoming product roadmap, which includes new models in segments where Acura doesn’t currently compete, a hybrid V6 powertrain, and an updated RDX SUV.
American Honda’s president and CEO, Eiji Fujimura, said, “We are making a big commitment to Acura by delivering products and services that meet the needs of our customers at all life stages, which will create a sustainable long-term direction for the brand.”
The first new Acura model is slated to debut in early 2028. It will be an “adventure-ready SUV,” which could be similar to the Honda Passport TrailSport. Acura said the SUV would bring modern styling, a comfy interior, and compelling technology features.
Also on the way is a new 8-passenger SUV, Acura’s largest to date. It will sit above the 7-passenger MDX in the lineup, helping Acura compete with larger luxury SUVs such as the Lexus TX.
A new RDX Hybrid model is due for 2028 as the first Acura to use the new two-motor hybrid system. The current RDX sports a lively 272-horsepower turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, but a hybrid option could give Acura a better foothold in the ultra-competitive luxury compact SUV segment.
Finally, Acura plans to employ Honda’s new hybrid V6 powertrain, which it said would improve towing capacity for its larger SUVs. The new system also promises better performance and increased fuel economy.
Acura sales are up through the first three quarters of 2026, increasing by 4.4% over the same period in 2025, the brand also announced. The MDX, ADX, and Integra have all posted strong numbers so far in 2026, but the automaker’s catalog has shrunk in recent years, making this revamp an important process for the automaker heading into the 2030s.
