Ram discontinued the original ProMaster City after the 2022 model year, but the automaker is gearing up for the compact commercial van’s return in 2027. The company recently released pricing and new details for the Fiat-based ProMaster City, announcing a starting price under $40,000 and a reasonably generous list of standard features.
The 2027 Ram ProMaster City starts at $39,995, including a hefty $2,595 destination charge. Full-line pricing is as follows:
- ProMaster City Tradesman Cargo: $39,995
- ProMaster City Tradesman Passenger Wagon: $42,695
- ProMaster City SLT Cargo: $41,495
- ProMaster City SLT Passenger Wagon: $44,195
The City offers less than half the cargo space of Ram’s full-size ProMaster, but it’s still a very capable van. Power comes from a turbocharged 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine that makes 166 horsepower and 221 lb-ft of torque. It’s mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and is front-wheel drive (FWD). Towing capacity reaches 2,000 pounds with the available Class 3 trailer hitch, and the van can carry up to 2,000 pounds of payload.
Interior cargo space measures 167 cubic feet, and the 111-inch cargo load floor is large enough to accommodate 4-by-8-foot boards. Even with that capacity, the ProMaster City is less than 80 inches tall, allowing it to enter parking garages that most other vans can’t reach. It stretches 210 inches in length, quite a bit more than the roughly 187 inches of the prior ProMaster City.
The base Tradesman trim comes well-equipped with standard features including a 5-inch digital rearview mirror, a 10-inch digital gauge cluster, a 10-inch touchscreen, navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, heated front seats, and more.
ProMaster City SLT models add front parking sensors, wireless phone charging, a heated steering wheel, fog lights, and 17-inch aluminum wheels. Ram also offers a range of upfit options and accessories that let buyers tailor the City to their needs, including interior partitions, additional seats, and different window/panel configurations. Passenger variants have seating for five or eight.
New safety gear includes forward collision warnings, automatic emergency braking, driver attention monitoring, hill-start assist, rear parking sensors, automatic high beams, and more.
The 2027 Ram ProMaster City is expected to enter production later this year, with the first vans reaching dealers in the first quarter of 2027.
