2027 Mercedes-Benz Electric C-Class Touts Ample Tech, Performance

The 2027 Mercedes-Benz electric C-Class on a road.
  • The new C-Class EV will offer AMG-level performance.
  • Expect strong range numbers and fast charging.
  • The cars are due in U.S. showrooms in the first half of 2027.

Mercedes-Benz’s current North American electric vehicle lineup includes a handful of models, all of which sport names like EQB SUV and EQE Sedan, but that’s changing with the new electric C-Class. The automaker just revealed information and specs for the upcoming 2027 model, saying it’s the “sportiest Mercedes-Benz C-Class to date.”

While there’s room for argument around that statement, the electric C-Class is no slouch. The C 400 4MATIC Electric launch model offers 482 horsepower and a 3.9-second zero to 60 mph time — numbers usually associated with Mercedes’ AMG line of high-performance cars. Using 800-volt architecture, the car delivers 472 miles of range on the WLTP rating cycle, though it’s important to note that the EPA’s measurements are generally much more conservative.

We expect somewhere between 350 and 400 miles of range under U.S. testing, which is less exciting but still very strong. Charging speeds reach 330 kW, and the car offers strong regenerative braking with one-pedal driving.

Rear-axle steering is available, with up to 4.5 degrees of motion, and the optional air suspension system uses Car-to-X technology and Google Maps data to deliver real-time damping adjustments.

Mercedes offers its new MBUX Hyperscreen system, which features a 39.1-inch display spanning the dashboard. In addition to now-common features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the screen is highly customizable. It can be paired with a Burmester 4D Surround Sound system with speakers integrated into the backrests of the available high-end front seats.

The MB.Drive functionality includes a host of driver-assist systems, backed by a standard water-cooled supercomputer and an array of cameras and sensors. “Artificial intelligence processes the sensor data in real time to assess the driving situation,” Mercedes says.

The 2027 Mercedes-Benz Electric C-Class will begin arriving in U.S. showrooms in the first half of 2027. Other models will come later, and pricing details should become available closer to the car’s official launch date.
