The CX-70 offers more cargo space than most midsize 2-row SUVs because it is essentially a 3-row CX-90 with the third row of seats removed.
Our test drivers like its interior, which nearly competes with those of some luxury cars, and its upscale look. It comes with a choice of three powertrains: a turbocharged inline-6-cylinder engine making 280 horsepower, an upgraded version of the same engine producing 340 hp, or a PHEV setup making 323.
For 2026, Mazda engineers have made the PHEV version more efficient. It can now travel up to 30 miles on electric power alone before using gasoline.
The company renamed several PHEV trim levels — 2025’s Premium and Premium Plus are 2026’s SC and SC Plus. Badges and exterior trim will be black instead of chrome in the new year.
