UPDATE: We now have a 2018 Subaru Crosstrek review, prices and more.
The all-new 2018 Subaru XV Crosstrek will get its official coming out party at the Geneva Auto Show in March. Previewed there last year in XV Concept form, the second generation of Subaru’s compact crossover is expected to be a bit larger than the current vehicle but aside from confirming that it will have a “personality packed exterior” and come with the automaker’s signature Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system. It released no additional details at this time.

Given what we know about its show car precursor, we can say the next-gen Crosstrek – which is marketed as the Subaru XV elsewhere in the world – will be based on the company’s new Subaru Global Platform that was introduced on the redesigned 2017 Impreza. While motivation for the new Crosstrek is still not known, it’s believed the 5-passenger crossover will be fitted with a new direct-injected 4-cylinder boxer engine in standard form, and also is likely to offer a Hybrid variant that would match a 1.6-liter gasoline engine driving the front wheels and an electric motor powering the rear axle.
