Following a one-year hiatus, the Mitsubishi i-MiEV returns to the automaker’s lineup for 2016. Arriving in dealer showrooms late next month, the diminutive 4-passenger EV carries over virtually unchanged. That status quo includes its sticker price which remains at $23,845 before a $7,500 federal tax credit that can drop the bottom line to $16,345 – and take it even lower in areas where other state or local spiffs may apply.

Like the 2014 model, the resurrected i-MiEV is fitted with a 66-horsepower electric motor that draws energy from a 16kWh lithium-ion battery pack with sufficient capacity to travel between 62 and 98 miles on a single charge. This ultra-clean mini-Mitsu earned a 112 MPGe combined rating from the EPA. The biggest change for 2016 is found on its roster of options.The i-MiEV now offers a new Navigation Package that includes a 7.0-inch touchscreen display, real-time traffic, 3D mapping with Mapcare, Bluetooth hands-free phone system, a USB port and a rearview camera.
