Putting an unconventional spin on the standard vehicle unveiling process, the 2015 Toyota Sienna has made its debut online with a series of family-oriented videos it hopes will grab the attention of potential minivan customers who may be pondering rivals like the Honda Odyssey or Chrysler Town & Country. The short videos show parents and kids who currently star in three popular YouTube channels — Action Movie Kid, EhBee Family and Convos with My 2-Year-Old – interacting with the refreshed and upgraded 2015 version of the Toyota‘s Swagger Wagon which will continue to be offered in in L, LE, SE, XLE and Limited trims.

Bolder look

Cosmetic changes to the 2015 Sienna are fairly modest and start with a redrawn front fascia that features revised head and fog lamps, a new mesh grille insert in place of existing horizontal bars, a modified lower intake and available LED running lights. At the rear, restyled taillamps sport clear lenses and add LED elements on most trim grades while the Sienna’s side view reveals more deeply sculpted sheetmetal and new alloy wheels. No changes to the Sienna’s powertrain, which continues to match a 266-horsepower/3.5-liter V6 with a 6-speed automatic transmission whether buyers choose front-drive or available AWD. However, model-specific retuning of the Sienna’s springs and shocks plus additional structural reinforcing welds should enhance its dynamic character across the lineup.

More engaging interior

Given its primary mission, the Sienna’s major upgrades are found inside its spacious passenger compartment which can still be configured for seven or eight. The general ambiance has moved a notch further upscale thanks to more soft-touch surfaces and a new black leather upholstery option. The instrument cluster gets a graphic makeover and offers an available 4.2-inch color driver-info display that shows turn-by-turn navigation directions.

Other new Sienna options for 2015 include a 7.0-inch touchscreen display in the center of its dash that features capacitive switches as well as pinch/swipe control to command the infotainment and navigation, a pull-down conversation mirror to allow eye contact between the driver and rear passengers and Driver Easy Speak that uses the audio system’s rear speakers to facilitate two-way conversations between the person behind the wheel and others in the vehicle. Parents will be pleased to know that the available Dual-View, Blu-Ray rear-seat entertainment system also returns. Beyond the Sienna’s current comprehensive roster of safety features and eight airbags — including a new inflatable device for the front passenger seat cushion  — the 2015 version adds a panoramic backup camera as standard equipment.

The 2015 Toyota Sienna will arrive in showrooms this fall. Pricing, EPA numbers and final packaging/trim information Sienna will be released closer to its on-sale date.
