2015 Nissan Rogue SV Quick Take

Buzzing down Interstate 75 just south of Atlanta, Georgia, and the 2015 Nissan Rogue feels right at home because it’s just like our 2014 Rogue long term test vehicle, which is a good thing because we’ve enjoyed our time with it so far. This time around, the higher trim level 2015 model has been tasked with a 500 mile round trip from Atlanta to southern Alabama and then back again.

A 2.5-liter inline 4-cylinder engine provides the necessary power to get up to speed (and around dawdling farm trucks) with 170 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque on tap. Mated to a CVT, gear changes feel tall and the fuel economy figures reflect it. The EPA has rated the 2015 Nissan Rogue at 26 city/33 highway/28 mpg combined with the onboard computer reading an average fuel economy of 28.7 mpg after a weekend of mixed driving conditions. This drivetrain is quiet and smooth on long stretches of highway as we cruise closer to the Alabama border. The standard 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped in all-season tires also soaked up the bumps on cement-laden Interstate 75.

Creature Comforts Galore

Loaded with creature comforts like Nissan Connect with navigation, a 7-inch touchscreen color display, and Around View Monitor (the best of its kind in the industry), the three and a half hour ride from Hartsfield-Jackson Airport in Atlanta to Enterprise, Alabama, flew right on by. You have the choice between plugging your smartphone in through a USB port and pairing it to the infotainment system with Bluetooth. Both take just seconds to do but we elected to go the Bluetooth route and had no issues the entire weekend. This particular Rogue was outfitted with the SV Family Package which includes 3rd row seating and run flat tires. With the 3rd row seats up, cargo space takes a hit but since this was a solo mission to Alabama one carry-on bag and a briefcase had little trouble finding space. 

As it sits, the 2015 Nissan Rogue we piloted rang out at $28,170 and that includes $290 for roof rack rails, $1,590 for the SV Premium Package (Nissan Connect with navigation, touchscreen display, Around View Monitor), and an additional $940 for the SV Family Package. For the money (and everything that comes with it), the 2015 Nissan Rogue deserves a look.
