Although it issued no new details, Lexus has confirmed that its all-new compact luxury crossover will be presented in production form in April at the Beijing Auto Show. To be positioned below the current RX model in the automaker’s lineup, the new Lexus NX will be "derived from" the earlier LF-NX Concept (pictured here) that was introduced at the Frankfurt Auto Show last fall in hybrid form with a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder Atkinson Cycle engine and Hybrid Synergy Drive but reprised two months later in Tokyo packing a 2.0-liter turbocharged powerplant.

Slated to do battle against rivals like the Audi Q3, BMW X3/X4 and Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class, the 5-passenger NX will be the first Lexus entry into the burgeoning premium compact crossover/SUV arena. The Lexus NX is expected to arrive in dealers late this year as a 2015 model.
