Although its U.S. arm has yet to formally confirm the vehicle seen here is the 2014 Hyundai Equus, this modestly revamped version of the Korean automaker’s mid-size luxury performance sedan has just gone on sale in the home market. The latest iteration displays what Hyundai refers to as a more refined and modern appearance, largely as the result of some tasteful de-chroming of the car’s front fascia, a new vertical-blade grille, restyled LED rear combination lamps and revised alloy wheel designs. While no powertrain changes were made, the suspension has been tweaked a bit to ensure a more comfortable and composed ride over uneven road surfaces.
Inside, the Korean-spec Equus gets more stylish trim appointments, including double-stitched leather-covered seats, along with a TFT-screen instrument cluster and an improved Smart Cruise Control system as well as offering a Head Up Display, Blind Spot Detection, Haptic-feedback steering wheel and an all-around-view monitor. At least some if not all of these upgrades seem likely to make it to the U.S. For now, all Hyundai will say is that it plans a "luxury concept reveal" next month in Detroit.
