Electric vehicles (EVs) have been all over the news lately, not just because new models are constantly hitting the streets but because of the high-profile politics of EVs as well as the high-profile politics of one particular EV CEO. As a result of the hoopla, sales of new EVs have slowed slightly, leading to delays in introducing other new models. The result is that dozens of new EVs are hitting the streets over the next year or so, including 2025, 2026, and 2027 models, and beyond. There are, of course, even more EVs due for release over that period, but we’ve limited our focus to mainstream production EVs to keep it as relevant as possible to you, the EV shopper.
While details remain a bit fuzzy on some models, many EVs coming over the next year or so are taking more definite shape. Read on to find out what we know about the electric cars, trucks, and SUVs coming to America in 2025 and 2026.
1. 2026 Acura RSX
The 2026 Acura RSX is set to revive the beloved nameplate in the form of an all-electric SUV. The RSX has been officially confirmed as the brand’s next-generation EV, due to enter production later in 2025. The RSX will be the first vehicle built at the brand’s EV hub in Ohio.
2. 2026 Afeela 1
Starting at $89,900 and offering 300 miles of range, the 2026 Afeela 1 is a joint project between Honda and Sony. It has also been in the works for a while, with prototypes having been displayed since 2023. Initial models – high-end Signature trim vehicles – will be the first to arrive, sometime in 2026.
3. 2027 Alfa Romeo Giulia EV
The upcoming Alfa Romeo Giulia EV is expected to bring the brand’s passionate style and performance to the electric sedan realm. Up to 1,000 horsepower, 800-volt architecture for fast charging, and range possibly up to 500 miles are on the table. The Giulia EV is expected to arrive in late 2025 or early 2026.
4. 2025 Alfa Romeo Stelvio EV
Back in 2021, Alfa Romeo said the 2023 Tonale would be the last new Alfa developed with a gasoline engine, signaling intent to go all-electric by the decade’s end. The Alfa Romeo Stelvio EV is one of the first steps along that path, due to arrive sometime in 2025. Beyond that, there are not many meaningful details, but it will share its architecture with other upcoming Alfa vehicles.
5. 2026 Bentley Luxury Urban SUV
The first true EV from Bentley will be smaller than the Bentayga and more geared toward city use. It will still be hyper-luxurious, and its design will incorporate classic Bentley proportions and details while introducing the brand’s new electric vehicle cues as well. The Bentley urban electric SUV is expected to make its debut sometime in 2026.
6. 2025 BMW iX3
Having been shown previously as the Neue Klasse X prototype, the upcoming BMW iX3 is expected to fill the same size slot as the X3, just in all-electric form. It’s expected to offer around 400 miles of range, 800-volt fast charging, and BMW-grade handling and performance. The BMW iX3 EV is expected to arrive in September 2025 with sales soon after.
7. 2026 BMW i3
Closely related to the iX3, the upcoming 2026 BMW i3 will be a rebirth of the familiar name, but that name will be used for an all-new vehicle, likely a sedan. Because the i3 will share its architecture with the iX3, it will offer similar range and likely even greater performance. The i3 is expected to make its debut after the iX3, sometime in 2026.
8. 2027 BMW iX5
As the iX3 is to the X3, so the iX5 is to the X5: A similarly sized vehicle with similar capabilities, but all-electric instead of combustion-based. The X5 is neck-and-neck with the X3 for BMW’s most popular vehicle, so the electric variants of these will be key to the brand’s EV success. The iX5 is expected to debut as part of the next-generation X5 family rollout sometime in 2026.
9. 2026 Buick Electra E5
Another iconic nameplate is soon to return to the market, again in SUV form: The 2026 Buick Electra E5 will be based on GM’s latest EV platform, and is expected to be priced between about $50,000 and $75,000. Range could be as high as 400 miles. Look for more details in the next year or so – the Electra E5 was supposed to make its debut in 2025 but it has been delayed.
10. 2027 Chevrolet Bolt
Due to begin production in late 2025, the 2027 Chevrolet Bolt will bring back the brand’s familiar nameplate, but with an all-new design based on the Ultium platform. Like the previous Bolt, the new model is expected to be affordable (priced around $30,000 to start) and will have competitive range for its class, likely meaning something around 300 miles.
11. 2026 Chevrolet Corvette EV
We know a 2026 Chevrolet Corvette EV is coming, but that’s about all we know — and really, the 2026 model year is a best guess. Given the performance and capability of the Corvette E-Ray hybrid, it’s safe to guess an all-electric model would likely offer at least 650 hp with a combination of rear- and front-mounted motors — perhaps up to four — providing all-wheel drive for maximum traction and acceleration. A top-spec model may crest 1,000 hp.
12. 2025 Chrysler EV SUV
A few years back, Chrysler showed off the gorgeous Airflow concept. However, the upcoming electric crossover that will take its place is expected to be much closer in design and function to the all-new Jeep Wagoneer S electric SUV. Whatever form or name the future Chrysler EV may take, if it’s related to the 600-hp Wagoneer S, it’s likely to be entertaining.
13. 2027 Ford Electric Pickup/SUV
Details remain especially murky for this one, without even a good idea of what the upcoming pickup/SUV shared platform might bear, only that it might be a midsize pickup truck that could also support an SUV variant. Whatever form this new Ford EV might take, don’t expect it to hit the streets until sometime in 2026, likely as a 2027 model.
14. 2026 Genesis GV90
Already spied in testing, the upcoming 2026 Genesis electric SUV – expected to be called the GV90 – is due to become the brand’s largest, most luxurious SUV. The GV90 electric vehicle is expected to offer 800-volt architecture and there should be plenty of room for a big battery, so we expect both range and charging to be state-of-the-art. Look for more details to come in late 2025.
15. 2026 Honda 0 Series Sedan and SUV
Shown off at this year’s CES consumer electronics show, the 2026 Honda 0 Series duo of EVs cut futuristic profiles that not only turn heads but hint at how seriously Honda is taking EVs now that it’s finally diving in on its own. Details remain firmly in the prototype stage at the moment, but the Honda 0 electric sedan and SUV aren’t expected to reach dealers until sometime in 2026.
16. 2026 Jeep Recon
Originally expected to arrive in the 2023 calendar year, the Jeep Recon is now expected to be a second-half of 2025 arrival. We expect pricing to start around $60,000 and share features with the related but decidedly different Wagoneer S described below. Expect big horsepower figures, Jeep-specific off-road traction management features, and a high-tech, screen-centric cabin.
17. 2026 Kia EV3
Already on sale in parts of the world, the 2026 Kia EV3 is, in fact, the current World Car of the Year. In the U.S., it won’t be available until later in 2025 as a 2026 model. When it does arrive, however, the EV3 will be one of the most interesting small EVs available, thanks in part to its unique rear seats that offer lots of seating and storage combinations. The Kia EV3 is expected to start around $35,000.
18. 2026 Kia EV4
The 2026 Kia EV4 is confirmed for U.S. sale in sedan form, although there is also a hatchback variant that will be available in other markets. Fortunately, even the sedan blurs the lines between segments, offering what Kia calls “all-rounder” style and utility. The EV4 is expected to make 201 horsepower and hit 60 mph from a stop in 7.4 seconds, with a choice of a standard 58.3-kWh battery or an extended 81.4-kWh battery, which should deliver about 300 miles of range.
19. 2026 Lexus TZ
Unconfirmed but highly likely, the 2026 Lexus TZ, or whatever the company decides to call its upcoming large electric SUV, is expected to arrive in the second half of 2025. The TZ would join the Lexus RZ as the second luxury electric SUV from the brand, offering more space and capability as well as even more luxury. The 2026 Lexus TZ is expected to start in the upper $60,000s.
20. 2026 Lexus ES Electric
Inspired in its design by the Lexus LF-ZC concept, the upcoming 2026 Lexus ES won’t be exclusively electric, but it will offer an all-electric version. Due to arrive in ES350e and ES500e versions, the electric ES can generate up to 338 horsepower and accelerate to 60 mph in as little as 5.7 seconds. Details on range, equipment, and pricing will be revealed closer to the model’s 2026 on-sale date.
21. 2026 Lotus Eletre
A luxury crossover might seem like the least Lotus-like vehicle possible (perhaps short of a pickup truck), but it may well be the thing that keeps the brand alive – provided, of course, that it ever arrives. The Eletre compact electric SUV has been planned since at least 2022, with a 2023 launch date at one point. Now, it looks like late 2025 or 2026 is as soon as we’ll see this unusual offering from a historically sports car-focused brand.
22. 2027 Lucid Earth
Due to enter production in late 2026, the 2027 Lucid Earth is expected to be the brand’s first vehicle priced below the $50,000 mark. Given the genre-bending nature of current EVs, it’s no surprise the Earth looks a bit like a combination of a midsize SUV and a hatchback, but either body style bodes well for practicality. It’s not yet clear what sort of power output or range the Earth will offer, but Lucid’s more expensive offerings have some of the biggest horsepower and range figures in the industry.
23. 2026 Mercedes-Benz CLA EV
Confirmed for arrival for the 2026 model year, the upcoming all-new Mercedes-Benz CLA sedan lineup includes two EVs — a rear-drive base model called the CLA 250+ rated at 268 horsepower, and a dual-motor all-wheel-drive model called the CLA 350 4Matic, good for 349 horsepower. The new CLA will also be the first model from the brand to include artificial intelligence-powered features from Google and Microsoft.
24. 2027 Mini Cooper Electric
The only electric Mini you can buy at the moment is the Countryman SE All4, and while that’s a fine choice for electric Mini fans, the Mini Cooper EV is coming, and it will be as fun as it is all-electric. It will also be smaller than the current Mini Hardtop, with a fresh design that still recalls the iconic Mark I Mini.
Two core trims will compose the electric Cooper line. The base Cooper E is good for 184 hp and about 190 miles of range, and the Cooper SE is good for 218 hp and around 250 miles of range. Those range figures are based on European testing, so it’s possible they’ll be adjusted downward slightly for U.S. specification. Regardless of the final range figures, Mini says the new battery can charge at 85 kilowatts, going from 10% capacity to 80% in just half an hour on DC fast charging. Look for the new Mini Cooper to arrive later this year.
25. 2026 Nissan Leaf
The first of the modern crop of EVs to hit American roads (yes, the Leaf predates the Tesla Model S, too), the 2026 Nissan Leaf aims to reinvigorate the name with an all-new design and greater capability. The styling is expected to reflect the influence of the Ariya electric SUV, with which the upcoming Leaf will also share a platform. Look for more details on the next Leaf as it gets closer to launch later this year.
26. 2027 Polestar 5
Originally slated to launch as a 2024 model, the 2027 Polestar 5 will be based on the elegant Polestar Precept concept car from the 2020 Geneva Auto Show. With an estimated starting price of around $100,000, the Polestar 5 will compete with the likes of the Porsche Taycan, Lucid Air, and Tesla Model S. Few solid details on the Polestar 5 have been released as yet. One thing we do know is that it will be a grand touring sedan with a liftback cargo area. It’s expected to be chock-full of Google-based infotainment tech and sustainable interior materials. The Polestar 5 is planned for a 2026 launch.
27. 2026 Porsche Boxster/Cayman EVs
Last summer, Porsche confirmed the end of the line for its 718 Cayman and Boxster sports cars sometime this year. Coming to replace them is a pair of EVs, potentially due in 2026, although they may still be 2026 models at launch. It’s not yet known if both models will launch simultaneously or if one will be staggered ahead of the other. Either way, we don’t expect Porsche to launch this duo of driver’s specials until they’ve gotten them right.
28. 2026 Porsche Cayenne EV
Expected later this year as a 2026 model, the upcoming Porsche Cayenne EV will be what it says on the label: a Cayenne with electric propulsion. That means it will also likely be one of the highest-performance, best-handling electric SUVs around. Like the Macan Electric, however, the Cayenne EV is likely to have its own platform, rather than being a modified version of the combustion vehicle. Expect a similar architecture to that underlying the Macan EV, meaning an 800-volt battery pack, fast-charging, and even more power – perhaps more than 800 hp.
29. 2028 Ram 1500 REV
Not due until mid-2027 following a delay this May, the Ram 1500 REV will be the last of the major American pickups to join the all-electric fray. It’s expected to start at about $58,000, with fully equipped models likely rising above the $100,000 mark. The Ram 1500 REV targets a maximum range of 500 miles, with a standard range of 350. The 1500 REV won’t be giving up much in ability, either. It has an expected tow rating of 14,000 pounds and up to 2,700 pounds of payload capacity. It claims to be able to add up to 110 miles of range in 10 minutes of DC fast charging.
30. 2026 Rivian R2
The 2026 Rivian R2 promises to be a smaller, 2-row compact SUV to complement the brand’s existing R1T and R1S truck and SUV. The R2 will offer rear- or all-wheel-drive powertrains with single or dual motors, respectively, and a 300-plus-mile range and fast charge capability that can charge the battery from 10% capacity to 80% in about 30 minutes. Orders for the R2 are open now, but deliveries aren’t expected until 2026.
31. 2027 Rivian R3 / R3X
Even smaller than the R2, the 2027 Rivian R3 was a surprise unveiling alongside the R2 that just about stole the show thanks to its cute-meet-cool looks and blistering promised performance. Expected to start around $40,000, the R3 and its all-wheel-drive high-performance variant, the R3X, are targeting 300 miles per charge and 30-minute 10%-80% DC fast charging. Look for the first R3 models to hit the streets in late 2026 or early 2027.
32. 2027 Scout Terra
You’re reading that correctly, the Scout brand is coming back. Volkswagen bought the rights to the brand in 2021, and the result is the reborn Scout Terra and Traveler. The Terra is the truck version of the duo, with more than 10,000 pounds of towing capacity and nearly 2,000 pounds of payload capacity, according to the brand. It uses body-on-frame construction and will be available with 35-inch tires and over 12 inches of ground clearance, meaning the Terra should be impressively capable off-road. It should be blazing fast on-road, too, with nearly 1,000 lb-ft of torque and a claimed 0-60-mph time as low as 3.5 seconds. The Terra will be built at the Scout plant in South Carolina starting in 2027. Scout says the Terra will start at about $59,000 before incentives.
33. 2027 Scout Traveler
If the Terra sounds great but you’re an SUV person, the 2027 Scout Traveler has you covered. With similar capability and pace to the Terra, the Traveler is the choice for larger families or those who just need the enclosed cargo space of an SUV. Priced just a bit below the Terra truck, the Traveler will start at about $57,500 before incentives.
34. 2027 Slate Truck
Coming out of nowhere, the 2027 Slate Truck took the industry by surprise when prototypes began popping up this year ahead of its official launch announcement this spring. The Slate Truck isn’t due to reach production until late 2026, but when it does, it will be an odd duck in the world of brand-new EVs. For one, it will start around $27,500 before incentives. For another, it will have a unique modular option and body kit that lets the owner reconfigure the truck. And finally, it will start with about 150 miles of range, with a 240-mile battery available as an upgrade.
35. 2026 Subaru Trailseeker
Unveiled at the 2025 New York International Auto Show, the 2026 Subaru Trailseeker is an all-electric SUV that blurs the boundary between SUV and wagon, visually at least. The second-ever EV from the brand, the Trailseeker is notably higher-performance than the rather sedate Solterra EV, offering 375 horsepower and 4.4-second 0-60-mph runs. It’s also meant to be used in the dirt and snow, with 8.3 inches of ground clearance, the brand’s famous all-wheel-drive system, and a range of electronic modes to aid traction. The Trailseeker’s 74.7-kWh battery pack should be good for about 260 miles on a charge, and you can use a NACS charger (like Tesla’s Supercharger network) to fast charge at up to 150 kW.
36. 2026 Toyota C-HR EV
The Toyota C-HR subcompact crossover was formerly a combustion model sold through the 2018-2022 model years. Now, it will be reborn as the 2026 Toyota C-HR, but as an electric vehicle. Expected to start in the mid-$30,000s, the C-HR EV sports sleek and dramatic design. It’s also expected to get about 290 miles on a charge, and hit 60 mph from a stop in about 5.0 seconds, thanks to 338 horsepower of all-wheel-drive output – the standard powertrain for the new C-HR. Look for the new Toyota EV to arrive at dealerships in 2026.
37. 2026 Toyota Tacoma EV
With a hybrid drivetrain recently launched in the Tacoma and Tundra iForce MAX models, it’s perhaps no surprise that Toyota would consider fully electrifying the industry’s most popular midsize truck, but it’s also not a given. However, based on a concept electric pickup released just this May, the Tacoma EV may be farther along in the planning and development process than some have thought. Aside from the looks of the recently teased concept, however, there’s little in the way of data about the upcoming Tacoma EV. We think it could be launched as early as next year – although whether it would be coming to the U.S. is an open question.
38. 2026 Volvo EX60
Volvo has made no bones about its intent to transition 90% to 100% of its vehicle sales to electric vehicles by 2030, and the upcoming 2026 Volvo EX60 would be a significant part of that plan. The midsize SUV class is one of the most popular, and the EX60 would complement the recently launched EX90 and EX30, its larger and smaller bookends in the electric Volvo SUV lineup. The EX60 is expected to hit the streets in 2026 with similar features, range, and performance to the Tesla Model Y.
39. 2026 Volvo ES90
Although the sedan market isn’t the biggest anymore, it’s still important, and the 2026 Volvo ES90 aims to put its stamp on the concept of four-door electric luxury touring – although the ES90 also cheekily conceals a hatch. Both rear-drive and all-wheel-drive dual-motor variants are expected, with a range of output from engaging to genuinely impressive with a max of 670 hp. The ES90’s cabin will also be a modern Scandinavian marvel, with fine materials, carefully chosen color schemes, and the latest in understated yet cutting-edge in-cabin tech. Look for the ES90 to make it to the United States sometime in 2026.
