Slap another one on the barbie for the Ford Expedition. Nope, not a shrimp, but a ninth Best Buy Award for our Full-Size SUV category. With its impressive towing ability, off-road chops, comfort, refinement, spacious interior, and useful tech, the 2026 Ford Expedition gives buyers a lot of reasons to cheer. So, what did we do? Well, we’ve awarded the Expedition our Full-Size SUV Best Buy Award for 2026.
Massively Capable
The Ford Expedition offers two available power outputs when it comes to the twin-turbo 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine. Standard is 400 horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque, or you can rock as much as 440 horses and 510 lb-ft of torque in your monster 3-row SUV. The Expedition can tow up to 9,600 pounds, which competes at the highest levels in its class and enables RVs and boats to join the family… expedition. The Pro Trailer Hitch Assist makes it easier to hook that trailer up, while Pro Trailer Backup Assist makes anyone backing an RV or a boat into a space look like a hero.

Cargo access comes easy with the standard power split gate, a class-exclusive feature on the new Expedition. The top section opens like an SUV liftgate, while the lower section opens like a truck tailgate. Not only does it help keep unruly items or rambunctious dogs from escaping the second the tailgate opens, but it can support up to 500 pounds, making it a great bench seat or table. The interior is highly configurable depending on the cargo you’ve got to haul. The third row uses a power-folding 40/20/40-split setup, which you can’t find anywhere else in the segment. Thanks to the Expedition’s lay-flat second and third row, you could stow a literal truckload for whatever tasks or travel you’ve got coming. Need more room? Then the longer-wheelbase Expedition MAX has you covered.
If your destination requires some off-road driving duties, then turn your attention to the Tremor trim – replacing the former Timberline. You’ll get extras like a rear locking differential, steel underbody protection, and 33-inch General Grabber all-terrain tires.
Tech Savvy

Not only does the Expedition take care of business outside, but the interior tech is sheer pleasure for the whole party. The Ford Digital Experience offers a new connectivity package with a Wi-Fi hot spot that can handle 10 devices. That’s more electronics than people. You have access to Google Play apps, including music, audiobooks, and you can stream videos and movies when parked.
The second row has tablet holders mounted to the back of the front seat headrests, helping keep the screen at or above eye level. The front dash boasts a 24-inch panoramic display fit for a full-size SUV with Ford’s Digital Experience instead of a standard instrument cluster. This customizable screen can save favorites within each driver’s profile and also displays a live video view of your blind spots when the turn signal is engaged. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard on the 13.2-inch touchscreen, which also controls the navigation, climate, and more.
The Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist 2.0 suite of safety features is also standard. With it you get a 360-degree camera, automatic emergency braking, and blind-spot assist with cross-traffic alert that also takes your trailer into account. Lane-keeping assist and adaptive cruise control are part of the package, while the optional BlueCruise system allows hands-off driving on designated highways.
It’s tough, capable, great looking, and can haul both the family and their toys on-road or off with surprisingly decent fuel economy. Wow, no wonder we’ve named it the Ford Expedition the Best Buy in the Full-Size SUV category yet again.
