Kelley Blue Book Best Buy Awards 2025

The best full-size SUVs have impressive towing capacity, a spacious interior, off-road capability, comfort, refinement, and helpful tech. The 2025 Ford Expedition not only checks all of those boxes, but this well-rounded 3-row SUV excels in everything it does. That’s why, for the eighth year in a row, the Ford Expedition is our Full-Size SUV Best Buy Award winner.

Immense Capability

The Ford Expedition is available with two versions of its twin-turbo 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine, with as much as 440 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque. The Expedition is also rated to tow up to 9,600 pounds, which is among the best in its class. If your family vacations involve an RV or a boat, this Ford is ready for the trip. And Pro Trailer Hitch Assist makes it easier to hook up a trailer, while Pro Trailer Backup Assist helps when backing a trailer into a space.

Stealth Performance Package

For drivers who want to go off-road, there’s the all-new Tremor trim level. With a retuned suspension, 10.6 inches of ground clearance, 33-inch all-terrain tires, and underbody protection, the Expedition Tremor is built for exploring trails. Rock Crawl mode and the Trail Control system let you focus on navigating the path.

Family-Friendly Features

The Expedition’s interior is massive and wonderfully roomy and comfortable for adults in every row. Tilt and slide seats make it easy to get into the third row. There are plenty of cupholders and USB-C ports throughout the cabin. And if you need a secure space that’s out of view, the available Flex Powered Console slides back, revealing a storage cubby that’s hidden once you slide the console forward into place. As an added bonus, when you slide the console back, it makes it even easier for second-row passengers to reach the controls and cupholders.

You can access cargo through the standard power split gate, a class-exclusive feature on the new Expedition. The top section opens like an SUV liftgate, and the lower section opens like a truck tailgate. This setup can prevent items from rolling out when you open up the back. The lower part of the gate, which can support up to 500 pounds, can also serve as a table or seat. If you’re taking the family on a camping trip, the available cargo tailgate manager can serve as a shelf or a bench. As far as cargo is concerned, there are several ways to reconfigure the interior when you need the space. The third row uses a power-folding 40/20/40-split setup, which is also a class exclusive. The Expedition’s second and third row fold flat, creating an enormous cargo hold, which gets even more enormous with the longer-wheelbase Expedition MAX.

Helpful Tech

In addition to towing and trail tech, the 2025 Ford Expedition has tech that the whole family can enjoy. The Ford Digital Experience offers a new connectivity package with a Wi-Fi hotspot that can be used for up to 10 devices. You can access Google Play apps, including music, audiobooks, and more, and you can stream videos and movies when the SUV is parked. You can also connect a Bluetooth controller for gaming. The second row has tablet holders that are mounted to the back of the front seat headrests, helping keep the screen at or above eye level. In addition, up front, the Ford Digital Experience uses a huge 24-inch panoramic display instead of the gauge cluster. This is a customizable screen that saves preferences within each driver’s profile, and also houses the blind-spot monitor that shows what’s next to the Expedition when you use the turn signal. A 13.2-inch touchscreen in the dash controls navigation, climate, and more. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard.

Additional tech comes in the form of safety. The Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist 2.0 is a safety suite that comes standard. It includes a 360-degree camera, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot assist with cross-traffic alert that also takes your hitched trailer into account, lane-keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control.

Value comes in many forms. In the case of the 2025 Ford Expedition, this vehicle is a tough, highly capable multitool that works brilliantly as a family vehicle, as a tow vehicle, and as an off-roader, with surprisingly good fuel economy.
