"This van has been a lemon since I have gotten it. The front wheel hub/bearings started squealing and had to get them replaced $750. Some of the vans had a recall for them, but not mine. I have also had major problems with the Rear AC blowing hot air. I had it in 3 times while under warranty and they never fixed the problem. Since then I have found out from another dealer that the front AC controls need replaced $400. I had some other AC problems while under warranty, but they were fixed. Road noise is pretty bad. I even bought the good tires that are suppose to help with road noise and they didn't help. It is hard to carry on a conversation from the front to the third row because of noise. It has served us well and is still working though. This was the first brand new vechicle we owned. It will be the last vehicle I buy from Ford. I always bought GM vehicles before and had great luck with them. If you can get a carfax report I would before buying one of these."
"I read some of the reviews and have seen similar problems. I had to replace the transmission at 55000 miles. (ALMOST $2200) Must have been hard driving (my wife takes my kids to school). I have the front bearing problem now. Plus, AC blows hot air.. My 86 honda accord has been more reliable.. Won't be buying another Ford anymore.. Not much power from the 4.2L. Listen to the reviews on this site.. DON'T BUY THIS VAN.. If you really want one you can buy mine..Buy a Honda.."
"2004 Plagued with problems. One day while driving home, my driver side window quit working. The buttons on my radio quit working, although it randomly kept trying to reprogram "preset 2". Finally, at 65mph on a busy road, I rapidly lost all acceleration. Almost exactly like many have explained with the erratic RPM.
I flushed the transmission fluid, hoped that it was just a fluke. Fixed what seemed to be a loose connection on the driver side door, got the window working again.
Radio was still acting up, but feeling confident I hopped into my ‘NEW’ van only to have it NOT START AT ALL.
I found out the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) is at risk of water damage, which could be manifested in a variety of symptoms depending on which part of the circuit board became wet or which of the connector pins shorted out.
