About Ford F350 Super Duty Crew Cab

Sometimes you just need to tow a 5th-wheel trailer, yank a house off its foundation, or pull that pesky canyon closed. For that, you need a heavy-duty pickup like the Ford Super Duty. A new 6.7-liter Power Stroke diesel offers up 440 hp and an incredible 860 lb-ft of torque, the most in its class.

The more powerful engine is a direct response to competition from the Chevrolet Silverado and Ram 1500, both of which have ramped up their trucks' capabilities. The Super Duty has a loyal following that could never be seduced by the competition, but these improvements put the Ford trucks back on top in capability, and may even convert a few Ram and Chevy owners in the process.

"I have had my 2008 F-350 King Ranch LB with A.R.E cab high shell for 16 mo. I have 15200 miles on it. Would have had more but got hurt and could not drive for 7 mo. The truck has had no problems at all . Fuel miles has been about 13 to 14 in city and 16 to 18 highway with out tow. I use cruise control at 58 to 60 mph. This is after break in on the diesel 6.4. The gas meter on the truck says on highway 20 to 22 but that wrong. I knew the truck uses more fuel so why gripe about my miles. I think for a truck of this size it does well. I see others complain about miles mpg then why did you buy a big truck in the first place. Every where I go people love the truck. I'm 60 years old and had a few trucks and cars in my life, and I can say this Ford truck is the best truck I have ever had. Ride great for a big truck, something I have to look for a place to park it because of the size but I don't care it worth it. This is a no bull report, because I love the truth about my auto good or bad. I use Amsoil CJ-4 5w40 syn. This will be my last truck till I go home to be with the Lord !!"

Pros: "Power;comfort;Fun to drive"

Cons: "Radiator;Exhaust Heat Sensor;Smokes;"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"Bought this truck brand new in 2008. Was hauling a 3-Car Trailer with it. within a couple months, it almost left me stranded due to Exhaust heat Sensor problem. New owners especially need to be prepared for this. Happens right around the odometer 50K miles range. The dealer I took it to, couldn't get this part for over 3 weeks and I was out of business during this time. No compensation at all from Ford. Shortly thereafter, I started going through Radiators. Replaced two radiators in 2 yrs before one dealer suggested that the pblm. was Thermostat related. Haven't had a repeat problem since. Another -ve is that the truck would occasionally exume a large and embarassing amount of smoke after driving for around 8 miles. This happened for a while and I finally took it to the dealer. While discussing the problem with the service guy, It occured to me that the truck just wasn't being driven enough to allow for proper exhaust cleaning. I was commuting approximately 10 miles 1/way to work daily. Seems this wasn't enough drive time for exhaust cleaning to occur, so I gave it a really long run that day...and it hasn't smoked since. Also, the trailer hookup electrical housing at the back underneath often collects water...and you get a subsequent warning/short light on the dash about this. Freaked me out at first, but eventually resolved itself after the water dried out. Be careful not to park close to Sprinklers or get too much water on this housing when you wash the vehicle. The housing is not sealed properly. Notwithstanding. Good truck. Mileage is not the best, but this is a work truck, so your business should compensate you for it's use. Other s include: plenty cargo space;good stereo system;good navigation system, comfort on long hauls and lots of pulling power. Hope this review alleviate some fears/frustrations."

Pros: "Very good work truck, great pulling power."

Cons: "Diesel repair costly and frequent."

"Truck has had to much repair time for being a super duty. Diesel motor costs a lot to repair and maintain. I hope the new diesel by ford is a better motor."
