About BMW Z4

The Z4 Coupe packages everything good about the Z4 Roadster into a stylish fastback design that is easy on the eyes, if not necessarily the wallet. Shunning the awkward styling that plagued the last-generation Z3 Coupe, the new car's fixed roof design increases the Coupe's visual appeal, placing it in the same league as the stunning Porsche Cayman and the upcoming Audi TT. Blessed with near 50/50 front-to-rear weight distribution and a powerful in-line six-cylinder engine, the Z4 Coupe delivers the exhilarating driving experience purists demand without compromising on comfort. The rear hatchback design increases versatility over the Roadster version, making the Z4 Coupe a very livable daily driver.

Pros: "Perfect balance of sport, style, and luxury"

Cons: "BMW's pricey options that are mandatory to really enjoy the car"

Likely to recommend this car? (1-10): 10

"I bought the 2011 z435i with 7 speed automatic transmission, premium pkg, sound pkg, sport pkg sale price was 60k$. This car is the perfect balance of performance, unique eye catching style, and luxury. The Porche Boxter may beat it in the performance catatgories, but is equal(IMHO)in unique style, and looses to the z4 in interior and drive luxury and costs more for comparable features. The Z4 is a race car when u want it to be and a luxury converitble when u want it to be. One minute you are taking a nice quite lazy drive with the top down enjoying the beutiful view and the next your blasting down a straight away at top speeds getting goose bumps. This car attracts a lot attention on the road. The hard top works great and is amazing to watch going up and down (again a show stopper in public). Interior has a lot of space and is a lot bigger than you would expect from the outside. Limited storage as you would expect, trunk is average. Accerleration and engine noise is very throaty and masculine in all RPM ranges and the 0-60 speeds are very exhilarating. Sport and Sport transmision adds a bit more fun for your money. IPOD and usb interface is easy to use while driving. Who ever designed the cup holders should be beaten with a stick. The location of the cup holders is terrible. They are hard to reach while driving and will only hold a 12 once can sized cup (Big Gulp...forget about it!!!!). Even the extra attachable cup holder is way to small in diameter to hold a decent sized drink (No Big Gulps in Germany???). The BMW a la carte options for their cars are very pricey. You NEED the premium, sports, sound pkg upgrades and they cost about 7k$ total, then if you get navigation, premium paint, heated seats....you get the idea. To get the most out of this car you should get the 35i model, i test drove the 30s model several times and the 35i performance really is worth it. The duel turbo really makes a big difference in real life performance and feel which is what you want in a performcance car! It is a fun, sexy, luxury sports convertible."

"My bmer if black on black with the premium and sport packages. So far so good. The passenger's side rear weel rim unexplicably broke in two parts. The dealer replaced it along with the run-flat 255 35R19 tire for free. The car is a looker. It runs great. I do find a bit of turbo lag from 0-20mph, but nothing compared with say, the 2003 Auti TT (which I previously owned). Compared to my previous SLK55 AMG, it falls short of power and responsiveness, but overall, I am very very happy with it. The folding hardtop is faster and operates smoother than the SLK's."
