"The 645CiC is a definite show-stopper - not that common and people will pay you compliments everytime you stop for something. The car absolutely looks better in person than in any photo. I have had several people giving me a thumbs up on the road for how great they thought the car is. Some compare it to the Mercedes 500SL, which is at least $14,000 more new, but the Mercedes is extremely conservative compared to the sexy lines of the 6. Plus, the sometimes criticized "bump" of the trunk lid actually emphasizes the linear look of the car and provides surprising room in there - especially for a convertible. The convertible seems to draw the most comments on great looks - with the top up, there's a hint of Batmobile, with it down, it is elegance in motion. A bit more conspicuous out on the road than the hardtop coupe. The gorgeous lines of the car show MUCH better in the lighter colors - silver, gray, white. But the performance is exceptional - especially when at first glance, it can be hiding behind all the over-engineered features. While there are quicker cars in 0-60, the 645 CONVERTIBLE can do it in less than 6.0 (5.9 actually) under the right conditions. And at speed, the handling is superb - rock solid whether you're tooling along at 60 or getting to the fire at 110+. But actually the car is the biggest blast to drive on curvy mountain highways between 40 and 65. The thing drives like it is on rails with its electronic stability control kicking in on lateral acceleration to winch the front and rear stabilizer bars dead level - not only 20%+ faster in the curves, but much more comfortable for both driver and passenger. Seats are comfortable, but if you're tall, that seat back is going to be pressing against the rear seat cushion. But few ever ride in the rear seat of this car. The seats are highly adjustable so the shortest or the tallest of drivers can fit nicely into this coupe. The headrests on the convertible are much better in the convertible with the shoulder belts attached to the electric headrest so they automatically adjust. Only manually adjusted headrests in the '04 coupe. The convertible provides nearly 4" of headroom for a 6'-6" driver. The auto-stick shifts easily with only a touch. If you hate clutching, but want the responsiveness of a stick, then this is for you. Acceleration is very quick with this, both from a dead stop - and from 60 to 80. Workmanship on the car is excellent across the board, but you have a right to expect this in a car with a new base price above 80 Large. iDrive has taken a beating - and with some justification - BUT it takes some practice and eventually becomes fairly intuitive. It would help if BMW consulted with Apple and Steven Jobs to truly make iDrive better. Consumer Reports has rated the more recent 6 series as unreliable. No reliability issues with my 6 - and the only differences between the 645 and 650 is 30 horsepower and a leather insert on the iDrive knob on the 650. Mileage CAN be surprisingly good on the 645 - try 27 mpg at 70 mph! But a heavy foot in town can also produce as few as 13 mpg! Sensitivity to what you need to do vs. what you want to do in this car makes the mileage difference. In short, the 6 Series is THE car that BMW is really talking about when they speak of the "ultimate driving machine." The 7 is a stodgy hulk, the 5 is a wanna-be (even the 545), and the 3 series are toys compared to the rarer 6. Have a blast with this car!"

best car i have owned

"Great car. Very fast, corners very well. Excellent acceleration. Seats are very comfortable. I feel like I am driving the batmobile. iDrive has frozen on me several times, starts up again after turning the car off and back on. iDrive is also too slow (i.e. switching from cd to radio, setting up navigation address, etc.). Overall, beautiful body style that continues to grow on me. I don't like run flat tires, unable to repair flat tire and need to replace tire. For the price much better than Mercedes given lower price than SL and free maintenance which over time is less expensive than CLS. For the price, performance, and luxury this car is unmatched. If you have the money, definitely a car to at least test drive."

Nice Car

"Have owned several Mercedes as well as BMW sedans. The ride is more sporty than luxury. On a smooth highway its great. Around the city you will feel every pot hole. But then again this is a sport car right? Run flat tires are very expensive and its difficult to find a tire store that will let you order a non run flat tire and install them. Try tire rack and beg the local mechanic to install them for you. Dont worry about not being able to have him align them for you, chances are your BMW dealer cant do this either. You see this BMW needs certain equipment to perform an alignment. They have to have a full tank of gas and put weight in all the seats. As of July o9 only 2 dealers in Upstate NY have this equipment. Guess I should Move. But on a lighter note, this car is very nice. Plenty of power and comfort and with a little practice the I controller is pretty easy! Didnt have to study the manual, and I am not a computer nerd! Lots of common sense when you actually spend 5 minuets to learn the system. The nav is cool, and the voice prompts although a little slow, work well. This car can totally be controlled from the I controller. The heads up display is pretty cool also. I have seen more detailed nav systems but this one seems to work well. The technology is a little dated and actually for 150 bucks the Garmin 205 W at best buy is more advanced with better graphics. If your looking for a head turner with power this car is for you! You will get plenty of looks and compliments. Overall I might not buy another, but only because I am growing out of my mid life crisis. And if your wondering about the convertible, dont hesitate. There is no difference in noise and they dont leak or get cold! At first I wondered why they didnt go with a hard top convertible, but when I actually spent some time in one, I quickly learned why. It only takes 15 or so seconds to drop the top. They also installed a cool drop down rear window that gives you the convertible effect with the top up! Very nice feature!! All in all if your looking for sport but want something different buy buy buy!"
