What Are Door-Opening Warning Systems?

Safe Exit Assist

Door-opening warning systems, also known as “safe exit systems,” use a sensor to detect a vehicle, motorcycle, or bicycle approaching a stopped vehicle from behind and alert the driver and passengers of the stopped car before they open their doors. The system’s safety benefits are two-fold: It protects other road users from having a car door opened into them, and it keeps the car’s occupants from stepping out in front of moving objects.

The safety measure is active even after the car is shut off. Some more advanced safe exit systems can lock a door to prevent it from opening if it detects potential danger.
