If cutting-edge design and a green footprint override the need for interior utility and real off-road ability, the 2019 Tesla Model X is the perfect fit. Blistering off-the-line speed will impress all lucky enough to experience it, and the Tesla name carries significant clout.
Both the Audi e-tron and Jaguar I-Pace offer decent range, a lower price tag and a traditional dealer network. A gasoline or hybrid SUV is faster to refuel (two minutes vs. 60), and an SUV like the Land Rover Discovery or Jeep Grand Cherokee can go places the Tesla will never know.
