If you want a small hatchback with youthful exuberance, a solid track record and no-haggle pricing, the Scion xD is worth consideration. Owners can further differentiate their rides thanks to the Scion’s commendable list of accessories and add-ons.
The 2014 xD’s 33-mpg highway rating is good but hardly the best in this segment. The Nissan Versa Note, for example, earns up to 40 mpg. If you require all-wheel drive for better grip in slippery conditions, turn your attention to a Subaru Impreza or Mitsubishi Outlander Sport.
