A revised 3.6-liter engine produces more power this year, while new features include standard leather seating on XR trims, an available 5.1 Bose Cabin Surround Sound Audio system and a new rear backup camera for vehicles not equipped with a navigation view screen.
A rear backup camera is added to the navigation option, while XM Satellite Radio becomes standard. Improvements for 2008 include an "Intelligent" all-wheel-drive feature, Panic Brake Assist and the repositioning of the rear wiper control from the stalk to the center console.
The 2009 Saturn Outlook is part of a family of three-row crossover vehicles that include the Buick Enclave, GMC Acadia and Chevrolet Traverse. For most families, the Outlook offers all the relevant capability of GM's three-row, truck-based SUVs, but with better ride and handling, easier entry and exit and better fuel economy. The Outlook and its GM brethren appear poised for unprecedented success in a category pioneered by the now-defunct Chrysler Pacifica and still competitive Ford Taurus X, not to mention the all-new Ford Edge.

"I have loved driving this car. It handles well, it is room both in passenger seating and cargo room. I have had a lot of mechanical problems with it. My timing belt had to be replaced (in fact all belts and gaskets were replaced), I had to have the fuse panel replaced due to the faulty sun room drains and now have had the transmission replaced. When I research all of these issues on the internet, they seem to be common and costly issues."

"I can honestly say it is the worst car I have ever purchased. The vehicle has 4000 miles on it and its been in the shop three different times, and the last time for over 3 weeks. It wouldn't start, so it was towed , and it took over 3 weeks to get the part to finally get the car started. Have had many transmission issues, shifts all the time, and is not smooth. I have been getting 17 miles to the gallon on the hwy, sticker said 18 city, 26 hwy, what a joke. Can't wait to get rid of it. Made a bad choice, should have bought the Honda Pilot."

"The Good: Looks sharp! Leather interior, good quality. Instrumentation sharp, pleasing to the eye at night. Center console extremely handy with cup holders and storage. Lots of room for transporting others. Many good points, just not where I'd like them. The Bad: I test drove it twice before making the deal and dearly enjoyed the luxurious feeling it provided on the road. As I soon discovered, a test drive and reality can be two different things. As others have already stated, the constant down shifting to maintain speeds of 45 mph and slightly greater wears me out. Interstate driving is great. But around town, too much shifting for me. The audio system is poor quality compared to other vehicles in this price range. Gas mileage 18.7 combination interstate/city travel. The Ugly: I have a fairly loaded '08 XR model and I am currently debating whether to take a loss and trade it in or suffer through it."
