"I got this car at 60k miles and its at about 112k. That's almost 75k miles I've put on this car. I haven't put as much work into this car as I have with other cars in this millage range. It handles, well it leaves something to be desired. It's fuel economy is great for a car this size, which is larger than a compact but not quite a Sedan. It has the 4 door suicide door setup which is cool, easy access to the the back. My biggest complaints, is that key refuses to come out, and the fuel line assembly was built poorly. Motor is great, Transmisson is great. Almost everything that was worked on in the car which is 10 years old, was all covered under warranty except fuel line, wheel bearings and the gas line. Took an impact to a deer with minimal damage. Survived 10 michigan winters, and is still running decently. I'll probally keep this car until 150k or 200k, and likely sell it."
Cons: "nothing works It continually needs something fixed"

"It's a money sucker for sure. Despite the factory recall and being fixed, nothing works it seems. The heat doesn't work, a big deal for a Wisconsin winter, the actual car parts, engine, etc, are faulty and everyone I know with a Saturn Ion, detests them. They fall apart and exist solely as money pits. Not worth the money I dumped into it by far."
"This car's value is clearly underrated. Much better than other GM cars and the best Saturn has made. I had the SL2.....was a major repair.every month.......would by another one.... I also like the body style."
"This is my first car. I bought it with 17k and now have 105k. It has been wonderfully reliable. Some small issues, but it's never left me stranded anywhere! It's always started and run.
I've taken it on several 1,000 trips and it made it through without a snag. The seats get uncomfortable at this length of a trip though.
I like the compact size, and it turns corners sharp. It is too light, though. You can't take corners too quickly. You also can't accelerate too quickly from a stop because of the light weight and power.
It gets pushed around by the wind on the freeway and over bridges. The light weight makes it gas-efficient, but I would rather sacrifice that for a little more stability while driving
Very loud and rough ride. Too much glass and road noise.
Fuel economy is pretty good.
Basically, it's a great value car to get started. Now that I've driven it for 6 years, I am definitely ready for something more cozy and sturdy."
"Great car. Wish Saturn had stuck around.
Known issues that were repaired (apparently common to this model)
Control arm bushings - front - go bad and cause a rattle at low speeds. replacement part is <$20. Moderate repair project.
Ignition recall. Never had mine repaired under recall. unfortunately, i needed to repair this before the recal was announced. did it myself through Rockauto parts
Air conditioning. Appears to be bad connection between switch and compressor. burned out 3 compressor clutches. When bypassed to direct auxillary switch installed under dash, no more problem.
Overall, however, really a great car. Would buy again if they made new!!"
Pros: "Reliable, comfortable ride, good gas mileage"

"My 2006 Saturn Ion 4-Door has been a great car! I bought it new and have kept up with general maintenance--oil changes at set intervals--it is the liveblood of an engine. I love how it rides, handles, and steering is awesome, especially for those Michigan left turns! It's the best car I've owned to date (that's in 44 years and that's saying something!)."
