The Hyundai Elantra competes in a small but formidable segment: compact sedans. Its main competitors include the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla. But just because those are two heavy hitters doesn’t mean the Elantra can’t keep up. In fact, Hyundai has added so much value to its vehicles that the other guys should be quaking.
Here are three things that we think make the Hyundai Elantra stand out.
1. Starting Price

The 2026 Hyundai Elantra starts at $23,870, including destination fee. In today’s new car market, that makes for a very attractive proposition. That base model comes standard with amenities including wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with an 8-inch touchscreen, dual second row USB-C charge ports, keyless entry, and LED headlights. Adding more value, the Elantra gets 35 mpg combined. All this and that price still undercuts both Toyota and Honda.
2. Standard Safety Set

Most cars come with a comprehensive suite of standard safety features these days. Hyundai offers drivers added reassurance with some of the most sophisticated, smoothest systems we’ve tested without charging extra. While buyers might expect forward collision warnings and assistance and blind-spot monitoring, Hyundai ups the ante with advanced features, including lane keeping assist and lane following assist. Most German luxury brands charge for those extras.
3. Warranty

A segment-leading warranty might not sound sexy until you need it. Hyundai stands behind its products and passes that confidence on to its customers. The Elantra’s terms of five years/60,000 miles basic coverage and 10 years/100,000 miles for powertrain issues simply cannot be bested.
