Our 3 Favorite Things About the 2026 Chevrolet Equinox EV

The Chevrolet Equinox EV isn’t quite the most affordable electric vehicle (EV) in America. But it may be the affordable EV that suits the most drivers. It’s a practical, easy-to-live-with electric car that meets most needs and starts at well under $40,000, even before the discounts dealers often apply to it.

It combines the future-forward nature of an EV with the familiarity of a nameplate you’ve long known. That has helped it quickly become one of the fastest-selling EVs in America.

Here are our favorite features that make the Equinox EV the right answer for many shoppers.

1. Reasonable Starting Price

The average EV buyer has paid around $55,000 for most of 2026 so far. But Chevrolet charges as little as $36,795 for the Equinox. Dealers often offer incentives that further lower its price.

That’s not just less expensive than the average EV this year. It’s less expensive than the average new vehicle of any fuel type.

The Equinox EV offers either 200 horsepower in front-wheel drive (FWD) or 300 hp in all-wheel drive (AWD), a contemporary cabin full of advanced tech, and space comparable to most compact SUVs. It’s a steal.

2. Range Over 300 Miles In Every Trim

Surveys have repeatedly shown that most Americans need to see over 300 miles of range before they’ll consider going electric. With either front- or all-wheel drive, the Equinox EV gets you there.

FWD Equinox EV models can travel up to 319 miles between charging sessions. AWD versions can go 307 miles.

Some automakers make a fairly stripped-down long-range version of their electric cars, in part, so they can publish an impressive range figure. But when you start researching, you quickly learn that you’ll need a lower-range model to get the features you want. That’s not true with Chevrolet’s compact electric SUV.

Even the sporty RS version gets over 300 miles of range.

3. High-Tech, Attractive Cabin

Every trim level of the 2026 Equinox EV gets a huge 17.7-inch central touchscreen. That’s the same screen found in Chevy’s full-size Silverado EV pickup. A big screen makes the cabin feel high-tech, but it can also be a safety feature – big, easy-to-read-and-tap icons mean less time staring at a screen.

Climate controls are real buttons and knobs – no need to learn touchscreen menus for the simplest adjustments.

Multi-colored ambient lighting is a feature we’re used to seeing in luxury cars, but the Equinox EV offers it at an affordable price.
