Introduction

The Acura MDX is a premium 3-row midsize SUV from Honda’s luxury division. It’s known for being affordable by the standards of an expensive class, and for Honda’s impressive build quality and reputation for reliability. The new MDX sold on dealer lots now started its life with the redesigned 2022 model year, and Acura made no significant updates for 2023.

KBB Review Highlights

2024 Acura MDX Type S interior.

Shoppers get considerable flexibility in the kind of MDX they want. Most trim levels get a 290-horsepower V6 engine powerful enough to make the drive easy, and a 10-speed automatic transmission. Base models come in front-wheel drive, with the option of Acura’s Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (AWD). Those are known for a composed ride. The high-performance Type S gets a 355-hp V6, an adaptive air suspension, and more powerful brakes. It’s likely more performance than most shoppers need, but if you’re willing to pay extra for that, the Type S earned praise from reviewers as unusually nimble for a 3-row vehicle.

The other big difference between one 2023 MDX and another is the Technology Package. Cars with it have a Low Speed Braking Control feature that can automatically brake the car to help prevent collisions at low speed, whether you’re traveling forward or in reverse.
