Pros

  • Impressive payload capacity
  • Low load floor and step-in height
  • Excellent safety and infotainment tech

Cons

  • Not rated for towing
  • Not available with all-wheel drive

What's New?

  • Cargo van layout now available
  • New color choices

The 2025 Ram ProMaster EV is an all-electric full-size delivery van with excellent payload capacity, cargo volume, and low load floor. Pricing starts at $58,590.

The Ram ProMaster EV is a van that can solve a lot of issues at once. For fleet owners and delivery companies, the cost of gas is a significant expense. Add to that the costs associated with repairing combustion engines, plus the amount of emissions while a delivery truck is idling, and the idea of going gas-free begins to sound very appealing. In addition, fleet owners can charge their fleet overnight, taking advantage of off-peak rates. Investing in an electric van that costs more than its ICE (internal combustion engine) equivalent could save money in the long run. Ram sells the ProMaster EV as either a delivery/step van with a super high roof or, as of 2025, a cargo van with a high roof. And while at first glance its 180-mile range doesn’t sound like a lot, when it comes to carrying cargo in cities and last-mile delivery — from a distribution center to the final delivery address — that range is plenty for a day’s work. The ProMaster EV’s payload capacity of up to 3,020 pounds means one van can get a lot done in a day without a penny of operating costs going to fuel.

What's New for 2025

The Ram ProMaster EV Delivery Van arrived in 2024, so for 2025, we see the addition of a more affordable Cargo Van version. There are also two new colors for the Delivery Van: Bright Silver Metallic and Black.

2025 Ram ProMaster EV Pricing

The 2025 Ram ProMaster EV has a starting sticker price of $58,590, with the range-topping ProMaster EV 3500 Cargo Van Super High Roof kicking off at $72,090. But Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Pricing currently suggests paying $1,172 to $1,442 less than MSRP, depending on trim and equipment. These prices are updated weekly.

To compare, the Ford E-Transit Cargo Van starts at around $53,000, while the slightly smaller Mercedes-Benz eSprinter Cargo Van ranges from $64,000 to $74,000, depending on the roof and wheelbase. The regular combustion-powered ProMaster comes in at about $47,000.

Before buying a new ProMaster EV electric van, check the Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Price to know what you should be paying.

Power, Ride, and Handling

A single electric motor generates 268 horsepower and 302 lb-ft of torque, which is sent solely to the front wheels. Its torque makes the ProMaster EV a credible contender against the most muscular version of the Mercedes-Benz eSprinter (201 hp and 295 lb-ft) and the Ford e-Transit (266 hp and 317 lb-ft).

The ProMaster EV has more torque than the gas model. The inherent instant response characteristic of electric vehicles makes acceleration more responsive than in the gas model. However, the ProMaster EV is designed to ride and handle much like the gas ProMaster, so it’s powerful enough for the job at hand, and the suspension is set up to accommodate a hefty payload. There’s no engine noise, but a commercial van is a large box on wheels, and that body style tends to have some noise regardless of the powertrain.

Practical Interior

Most of the ProMaster EV’s systems are situated ahead of the cargo area. The battery is stored under the floor, which remains low enough for convenient loading and unloading. Maximum cargo area is 524 cubic feet, which beats the eSprinter’s 488 cubes, but not the Ford e-Transit’s 536 cubic feet (extended length and tallest body). It’s also another four cubic feet better than the gasoline ProMaster. The maximum payload is 3,020 pounds in the cargo van. That’s better than the Mercedes-Benz rival but not quite as good as the Ford. If this aspect is crucial, the gasoline ProMaster can handle 4,820 pounds.

Like the gasoline ProMaster, the 2-passenger ProMaster EV Cargo Van is available in Tradesman, SLT, and SLT+ trims. The interior of the Cargo Van is essentially a big empty cargo hold with more features with each step up the trim line. It has the most cargo volume in the line, with 524 cubic feet of space. The one-passenger Delivery Van (also known as a step van) is available with a heated steering wheel, windshield, and driver’s seat; adaptive cruise control and lane departure warning; and parking assistance that includes the radio automatically muting when the van is in Reverse. Standard features on the delivery van include a surround-view camera, wireless charging, and a backup alarm. It also comes with a choice of upfit packages from the factory that include features like partitions, non-skid floors, grab handles, shelves, and more.

Tall or Taller, Long or Longer

Although the gasoline-powered ProMaster comes with three roof heights — standard, high, or super high — this ProMaster EV goes straight to the high-roof version that has 77 inches of vertical room inside. Or there’s the super-high roof version, whose cargo area is 86 inches tall. That’s 4.5 inches more than the tallest Ford e-Transit. There’s also a choice of length, either 12 or 13 feet, although the 159-inch wheelbase stays the same.

The Cargo Van comes with the high roof and is available with either the standard length or extended body. It has one sliding side door and uses barn doors in the rear. Delivery vans have a super high roof and no sliding side door. Instead of a passenger door, it has a wide pocket door. In the back, there’s a roll-up rear door made of anodized aluminum. The roll-up door provides quick and easy access to the cargo area and is great for working in confined spaces.

Favorite Features

Digital rearview mirror
Seeing what’s behind a van can often be impossible. This optional feature uses a rear-facing camera and sends wide-angle images to what looks like a regular rearview mirror. A 360-degree camera system is also available.

Uconnect 5 Infotainment system
This well-designed system can help the driver find a charging station and offers a Dynamic Trip Prediction that projects the range that will be used. Uconnect can store up to five user profiles. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard. The system is also capable of over-the-air map updates.

Alexa in-vehicle assistant
Another aspect of the infotainment system is that it allows remote starting and remote lock/unlock, as well as including to-do lists, news, weather, and traffic information.

Safety tech
The 2025 ProMaster EV’s standard safety features include forward collision warning, crosswind assistance, road sign information, and drowsiness detection.

Last-mile navigation
This provides walking directions through a connected phone app to the proper delivery address.

Upfitting
Just like the gasoline-powered ProMaster, this full-size electric van can be upfitted for every buyer’s specific requirements.

Range and Charging

Ram says the ProMaster EV can travel up to 180 miles before needing a full recharge. In these days of electric vehicles having 400-mile ranges, this might not seem like much. But if the ProMaster EV is working mainly around town, then its daily mileage would be a lot less than that. Plug it in overnight, and it’s ready to go the following morning. Should an urgent recharge be necessary during the day, the ProMaster EV can take a respectably high current from a DC fast charger. It also offers a charging station locator and calculates how much energy is required for trips. The ProMaster EV’s 180 miles of range compares well to the Ford e-Transit’s maximum of 159 miles, but not as well against the nearly 250-mile range achieved by the Mercedes-Benz eSprinter.

3-Year/36,000-Mile Warranty

The Ram ProMaster is backed by a bumper-to-bumper limited warranty for three years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. A 6-year/60,000-mile warranty covers the powertrain, an 8-year/100,000-mile limited warranty covers the battery, and a 5-year/60,000-mile roadside assistance service.

Safety Ratings

As is true within this class of full-size vans, neither the federal government, through its National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) agency, nor the private sector’s Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) have safety or crash-tested the ProMaster EV.
